Letter from Lauren Gustus

Thank you for supporting The Tribune in 2022. Whether you are a subscriber, reader or a donor, you are investing in Utah by learning about what’s happening in communities across the state.

As the nation’s first major metro nonprofit newsroom, we found impactful ways to do journalism that we wouldn’t otherwise have discovered.

For example, we co-launched the Great Salt Lake Collaborative, a collection of media, nonprofit and research organizations that are elevating ways to ensure more water reaches the shrinking lake. Through this collaboration, we shared our reporting with 16 other news organizations. And our reporting made change – the Cox administration walked back its support for US Magnesium’s plan to draw 100,000 gallons of water per minute from the lake just two days after a Tribune published a story reporting on the proposal.

We also published the first-ever Tribune voter guide in Spanish, delivering it in select communities.

The role that journalism plays in strengthening our communities is more important than ever. And we are grateful for all of your support in helping us share critical reporting.
